Jason Sails to Cochis

How powerful the wind can be
when he blows the sails of
death down these dark straits.
What youth loses in life
age gains in death.

He watches from the eaves
of the church with bated breath.
Each soul that passes the threshold
is just another tally on his blade,
a small reminder of the
endless stream of human lives
he takes from us.

Do I fear him?
No.
I fear what I leave behind,
yes, and what comes after.
